Our History

Having served Ford Motor Company as an internal auditor and Murphy, Lanier and Quinn as a public accountant, Leo J. Mellott established his own public accounting firm in 1956.

Leo enjoyed a sterling reputation based on integrity, quality, and service. He was soon joined by his son, Don Mellott, Sr., and the two worked tirelessly to make Mellott & Mellott one of the region’s premier accounting firms.

Today, Don Mellott, Jr. and his brother John represent the third generation in the firm to serve the accounting, auditing, and tax needs of discerning regional clients.

Mellott & Mellott has grown steadily, from two employees in 1956, to a roster of nearly 40 associates.  In January of 2016, Mellott & Mellott merged with Thomas Heldman CPA and Associates. Unlike other CPA mergers that involved national firms swallowing up local businesses, the union of these CPA firms joined two strong Cincinnati businesses intent on maintaining a local presence and providing first-class service to the regions privately-held companies, not-for-profit organizations, and high net worth individuals.

The traditional values that served as the foundation for its early success continue to represent the driving characteristics of Mellott & Mellott today.
